AFL on Setanta Sports UK?

Q) Last year Setanta Sports broadcast several games of Aussie Rules every week in the UK, at least 2 of these were live matches. There is no mention of it on their website at the moment with the preseason only a month away, but they have supposed to have signed a 5 year deal. Can aynone tell me if the AFL is still on this year and how good the coverage will be? I'm hoping that they haven't let us down and sold their souls to the devil by replacing Aussie Rules with football... if they have I'll be cancelling my subscription as it was only the AFL I got it for!

A) Hi, I, like you, was worried about that all reference to their AFL coverage was removed from their website. So I popped them a e-mail a few weeks ago and heres the reply I got: Dear Mr xxxxxxx Thank you for your e-mail. Great news - Setanta Sports has the exclusive Live and Delayed rights for the AFL for the next 5 years, which will include the Premiership season, AFL Final Series, AFL Grand Final and International Rules. These will be available in the Republic of Ireland as well as the UK. Additionally we will show a minimum of two (up to 3) Live matches per round from the Premiership season which amounts to 44 matches (up to 66). Please visit our website www.setanta.com for all schedule information. If further information or assistance is required, you can also contact our Customer Services team on the number below. Q) I am trying to find out when each sport season, ie: tennis, football, rugby, golf, netball, basketball, hockey, volleyball start in the UK (ie: Months from a to b). I have searched the Internet and can't find an answer. Anyone got any ideas ? My Dad is sports mad and wanted to know for something I am doing for fathers day. Ta V much

Popularity of UK sports?

Q) Does anybody know of any good online/offline resources where you can find statisitcs on the popularity of sports in the uk? Im mainly interested in niche sports like mountainbiking, kite surfing etc.

A) A good way to find relative popularity is to visit www.google.com/trends. You can compare net traffic for different search terms, I've just searched Mountain biking, kite surfing and climbing...see the results here .... www.google.com/trends?q=mountain+bike%2C+kite+surfing%2C+climbing&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all You can see that kite surfing is no wherenear as popular as mountain biking and climbing. You can also see that mountain biking is seasonal...mostly summer, while climbing is all year. Of course this is only relative but does show trends really nicely! :)

Setanta Sports (UK) where can I see all the fixtures...?

Q) ...for the premiership games the're showing this season. been on their website but can see full listings of the games I meant CANT see the fixture showing on the the website...Duh!

A) why not? Tiddlywinks is regarded as a sport. Paintball is actually quite fun.

council closing sherwood sports hall,matlock, UK. affront to democracy,need help to fight on web, how?

Q) Council used secret meeting on 19th July to vote on closure of our only sports facility in Matlock, Derbyshire ,uk. We could not see the report discussed as it was marked confidential, there was no consultation with the public by the conservative council. I am a silver surfer who needs young whizz kids to max exposure of this affront to democracy. Incidentally there are lots of other users who feel as we do. Any help would be gratefully received. UK Sports Hatch / Coupe for £5k - Any Advice?

Q) Hi all, I've got 5k to buy a good, medium sized sports hatch for every day use. Be handy if it had a decent boot (I lug monitors and printers about a lot) and needs to be fairly new, say 2001 upwards. I was looking at a 206GTi , but being french it's already fallen to bits, so I guess something like a Focus ST170 or Astra Coupe is probably on the money. Anyone got any suggestions?

A) Check the comparison sites, Autotrader etc where you can select 3 motors and compare them. The write ups are usually excellent. You should get a half decent motor privately for that money. I have an 05 Focus, £8.5k last year so you should get a good one. Easy car to drive, very comfortable and loads of boot.

Can I reproduce images from the uk.sports.yahoo.com gallery in my personal website?

Q) I'm referring to the Yahoo UK Ireland Sports (football) page where you have the image gallery for each Premiership team. A) RAW - Tuesday Morning/Monday night - 2:00am - 4:15am Smackdown - Friday Night 10:00pm - 12.00 Midnight ECW - doesnt air until Thursday in the UK, and airs at 11.00pm - 12.00pm They all air on Sky Sports 3, but repeats throughout the week. the above is just the first airings of them Heat is also on Sundays at 10:00am - 11:00am Hope this helps.

Doctors in UK who treat sports traumas by yoga therapy?where to find info about their whereabouts?

Q) I have hip trauma that effects my back. I'd like to find a doctor who could offer a proper help to have my hip back to its place and stop it loading pressure on my lower back. I heard that light yoga exercises have great positive effects in cases like this. Any one knows a doctos/s in UK or even outside it who would deal with sport traumas?

A) There is the England football team's Sports Centre which deals with sports injuries. Contrary to what you might think, it is not expensive. It is based at Lilleshall, Shropshire, England. It should be on the net. If this fails, telephone Burton Albion Football Club in Burton-upon Trent, Staffordshire. They might even ask you over on a reciprocal agreement basis. Worth a try!
